St. John Passenger Ferry Passenger ferries operate between St. Thomas (Red Hook & Charlotte Amalie) and St. John (Cruz Bay).
Between Red Hook and Cruz Bay Rates: One-way, $5/Adults and $1.00/Children ages 2-11. Seniors are $1.25 (VI Residents only, 62 years and up, proof of age must be shown). There is a charge of $2/piece for luggage/boxes. Time: 15 to 20 minutes
From Red Hood to Cruz Bay 6:30 am, 7:30 am, then hourly from 8:00 am to Midnight
From Cruz Bay to Red Hook Hourly from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm
Between Charlotte Amalie (downtown St. Thomas) and Cruz Bay Rates: One-way, $10/Adults and $3.00/Children ages 2-11. Seniors are $5 (VI Residents only, 62 years and up, proof of age must be shown). There is a charge of $2/piece for luggage/boxes. Time: 40 to 45 minutes. Note: The schedule is subject to change. At times, one or more of these trips may not run at all. The dispatchers at St. Thomas airport always seem to know when the next ferry from Charlotte Amalie is running. At Cruz Bay, check at the ticket office to make sure your ferry is scheduled.

Car Barges Usually (one or more of the four car barges may be out of operation at any time for any reason -- we never know) the car barges leave both Red Hook and Cruz Bay every half hour, starting at around 7:00 a.m. and ending around 6:30 or 7:00 p.m.
The fare is about $40-50 round-trip, including car and all passengers.
Show up at the dock, get in line, drive onto the barge, and pay (cash or local check only) while in passage.
